Valtrex may also cause some to be too weak or not to use, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. A weak Valtrex reaction may be a sign of kidney problems. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have or have had any medical conditions, especially if you: Have liver disease. The kidneys are not working properly while you are taking Valtrex. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had diabetes. Your doctor may need to test your blood sugar while you are taking Valtrex.
This medicine may cause side effects. Generally, it is best to take this medicine at the first sign of a rash, itching, hives, or swelling of the face or tongue, at the first signs of upper respiratory infection (uncontrolled asthma), and at the first sign of bronchospasm (severe bronchitis or asthma).
